Brentford vs Wolves had to be stopped for a brief period after an unofficial drone was seen hovering above the stadium. The game was paused for about 19 minutes and the players were asked to return to their dressing room as the authorities tried to clear off the drone.

There were fears for the safety of the players and the crowd had the controller lost the ability to pilot the drone. As a result, the authorities had to bring a helicopter to try and drive the drone away.

The Football Safety Officers’ Association has been working hard to try and make people aware of the dangers of drones at football games. Drone fliers have been in trouble recently, having tried to capture live match footage through their devices.

Drones flying into Premier League stadiums are not new

Back in 2015, Nigel Wilson was fined £1,500 for flying drones into Premier League stadiums, with Anfield being one of them. Wilson was the first-ever person to be prosecuted for flying unauthorised drones over Premier League stadiums.

The Brentford Twitter account resorted to jokes during the break, and as the players returned to warm up. Following the break, we saw three goals in the game. Joao Moutinho scores shortly after halftime, before Ivan Toney equalised. Ruben Neves struck in the 78th minute to earn all three points against the Bees at their home ground.
