## Second Biggest Malayalam Opening Week — Ever

What makes this run truly special is the historical context. Drishyam 3 has clocked the **second biggest extended opening week for any Malayalam film in Kerala**, sitting only behind *L2: Empuraan*‘s ₹70.50 crore. That’s elite company — and considering Drishyam 3 reportedly carries slightly better word-of-mouth than Empuraan, the ceiling could be even higher.

The [Drishyam franchise](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drishyam_(franchise)) has always been more than cinema — it’s a cultural event in Kerala. Jeethu Joseph’s trilogy has redefined what a family-driven crime thriller can achieve in Malayalam cinema, and Drishyam 3 is living proof of that legacy.

## What’s Next — The ₹100 Crore March Begins

With no major competing release this weekend and strong audience momentum, projections suggest Drishyam 3 will wrap its **second weekend around ₹75–80 crore** in Kerala alone. From there, the ₹100 crore gross milestone looks very much within reach — a feat that would cement its status as one of the greatest Malayalam blockbusters ever made.

The film stars **Mohanlal** in his iconic role as Georgekutty, with the entire family cast returning. Despite receiving mixed critical reception, the sheer fanbase loyalty for Lalettan and the franchise has powered this phenomenal theatrical run.
