  • Dragon Darts – Signature STAB move hitting twice
  • Shadow Ball – Ghost STAB for coverage
  • Acrobatics – Flying-type physical damage
  • Flamethrower – Counters Ice-types perfectly

Support Moves:

  • Will-O-Wisp (burn status)
  • Stats reset after taking damage

Type Effectiveness Breakdown

With Dragon Tera Type, Dragapult is weak to:

  • Dragon (2x) – Risky due to STAB Dragon Darts
  • Fairy (2x) – SAFEST OPTION with immunity to Dragon moves
  • Ice (2x) – Countered hard by Flamethrower

Important: Bringing Dragon-types is dangerous since Dragapult’s Dragon Darts will devastate them. Ice-types struggle against Flamethrower. Fairy-types are the clear winner for consistent, safe victories!

Top 3 Solo Counters

1. Azumarill (Best Overall Pick)

Build:

  • Ability: Huge Power
  • Item: Lum Berry (negates Will-O-Wisp burn)
  • Tera Type: Fairy
  • Moveset: Belly Drum, Play Rough, Charm, Liquidation

Strategy: Use Chilling Water initially to charge Tera Orb while lowering Attack. After Dragapult resets stats, immediately Belly Drum for maximum Attack, then Terastallize and spam Play Rough. Water/Fairy typing resists most of Dragapult’s arsenal!

2. Sylveon (Special Attacker Supreme)

Build:

  • Ability: Pixilate (converts Normal moves to Fairy)
  • Item: Leftovers
  • Tera Type: Fairy
  • Moveset: Hyper Voice, Calm Mind, Misty Terrain, Draining Kiss

Strategy: Hyper Voice becomes a devastating Fairy STAB thanks to Pixilate. Stack Calm Mind boosts while Misty Terrain prevents status ailments. Excellent for competitive players who prefer special attackers!

3. Wigglytuff (Defensive Tank)

Build:

  • Ability: Competitive (raises Sp. Atk when stats lowered)
  • Item: Leftovers
  • Tera Type: Fairy
  • Moveset: Alluring Voice, Wish, Misty Terrain, Charm

Strategy: Normal/Fairy typing grants immunity to both Dragon and Ghost STABs! Alluring Voice confuses Dragapult when it boosts stats. Use Wish for sustained healing and Misty Terrain for status protection. Perfect for cautious trainers!

Multiplayer Support Options

Grimmsnarl (Dark/Fairy Support God):

  • Ability: Prankster (priority on all status moves)
  • Moveset: Snarl (lowers Sp. Atk), Howl (boosts team Attack), Play Rough, Helping Hand
  • Tera Type: Fairy
  • Strategy: Snarl charges Tera Orb while weakening Dragapult. Howl boosts allies’ damage. Priority Helping Hand makes teammates hit 50% harder!

Alternative Supports: Perrserker (Steely Spirit + Screech), Kommo-o (Belly Drum setup), Tinkaton (dual-STAB coverage)

Pre-Battle Preparation Checklist

✅ Level 100 Pokémon (mandatory for survivability) ✅ Max out relevant stats with Vitamins (Attack for physical, Sp. Atk for special) ✅ Unlock 7-star raids by completing postgame + 10 four-star raids minimum ✅ Stock up on Fairy Tera Shards if changing Tera Types ✅ Practice timing Terastallization for maximum burst windows

Raid Rewards Worth Farming

Even after catching your one Dragapult, repeat clears yield:

  • Herba Mystica (sandwich ingredient for shiny hunting)
  • Ability Patches (unlock Hidden Abilities)
  • Dragon Tera Shards (change Pokémon Tera Types)
  • Exp. Candy XL (instant level 100 training)
  • Various Vitamins (Carbos, Protein, Iron, etc.)

These rewards make repeated farming highly profitable for Pokémon trainers building competitive teams!

FAQs

Q1: Why does Dragapult keep disabling my best moves?

Dragapult’s Cursed Body ability has a 30% chance to disable moves that hit it for 3 turns. This can devastate single-move strategies! Counter this by either: (1) using Pokémon with multiple attacking options like Azumarill (Play Rough + Liquidation backup), (2) bringing Gastro Acid or Skill Swap to negate the ability entirely, or (3) coordinating with teammates so multiple players can attack even if one gets disabled.

Q2: Can I catch Dragapult if I haven’t completed the postgame story?

You cannot initiate 7-star raids yourself without completing postgame events and unlocking black Tera crystals. However, you CAN join someone else’s 7-star raid using a Link Code in multiplayer mode! Find raid codes on social media or dedicated Discord servers. Once you participate and win, you’ll catch Dragapult normally – the postgame requirement only applies to hosting raids yourself.
