Douglas Costa is all set to join Fluminense ahead of the new season in Brazil. The winger will return to his home land after a brief spell with LA Galaxy. He returned to Brazil to play for Gremio on loan, but it was only for a few months before he returned to the MLS.
Now, he has agreed a deal with the Copa Libertadores winners and will be joining them soon. The forward has been without a club since leaving LA this past summer. And now, he has finally decided on his new challenge in the form of a return to South America.Â
Douglas Costa to sign for Fluminense as free agentÂ
A lot was expected from the right-winger when he signed for Bayern Munich from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2015. And even though he had the skills and footwork to beat some of the best defenders in the world, constant injuries prevented him from making a regular impact.Â
He was eventually moved on to Juventus, where similar issues persisted. He scored 10 goals and provided 21 assists for the Serie A club in 103 games before leaving.
At 33, and given his injury record, this could be the final chapter for the experienced forward. The player is expected to fly from Miami in the coming days to complete his medical tests, after which he will be officially announced as a new signing for the Brasileirão Serie A side.
