Borussia Dortmund has qualified for next season’s Champions League after beating Mainz 3-1 on the penultimate matchday. This is a big improvement from their position about a couple of months ago, where a top-four finish was looking unlikely.
The Borussen also won the DFB Pokal, beating RB Leipzig in the finals, and both these things will change Haaland’s future at the club. Dortmund chief Vasque said that they are relaxed and maintain the same position on the Norwegian’s future at the club. They want to keep him.
They will not accept any bids, even in the region of €100-120 million. Moreover, there are no crazy bids now that could change Dortmund’s mind. Next summer, the €75 million release clause in the player’s contract becomes active, and the race will be on.
Haaland has been very respectful with the club. Training as a top professional, he is the second-highest scorer in the Bundesliga. With 10 goals in the Champions League, he is set to finish as the highest goalscorer in this season’s edition.
We will be seeing the striker operate under Marco Rose next season, and can expect big things from the Norwegian once again.
