Donyell Malen is all set to join Borussia Dortmund, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano. The transfer has been given the here we go signal by the Italian journalist, which means that it is all set to go through officially.
The Dutch international has agreed a five-year deal with the German club, and will be tied to the Westfalenstadion till 2026. Dortmund will pay a sum worth €30 million for the player. Despite being a centre-forward, Malen is being signed as a replacement for Jadon Sancho, who was recently confirmed as a Manchester United player.
The 22-year-old has agreed on an interesting contract with the Bundesliga outfit, and will have his salary increase every year. The paperwork related to the transfer will be completed over the weekend, and Malen will sign for Dortmund despite interest from Liverpool in the Premier League.
Malen featured for Netherlands in the Euros, and though he didn’t manage to score any goals, he provided two assists. He has been capped 13 times and has scored a couple of goals for the national team. He scored 27 goals and provided 10 assists across 45 appearances for PSV Eindhoven in 20/21 and now has the chance to impress in one of Europe’s top five leagues.
The striker came through the Ajax and Arsenal academies before returning to the Netherlands to join PSV. He started out in their U21 squad, and has been with the first team since 2018.
