Dean Henderson has agreed a loan move to Nottingham Forest, and is set to complete the switch once he returns from holiday. The goalkeeper is set to go on a one-year loan deal with no option to make the move permanent.
The 25-year-old was unable to become the number 1 goalkeeper at Manchester United. David De Gea was preferred ahead of him, and is now in tremendous form between the sticks. As a result, it is unlikely that Henderson would have been able to replace him even if he stayed.
Dean Henderson joins Nottingham Forest on loan
With Brice Samba set to leave Nottingham Forest, and possibly move to Lens if the two clubs can agree a fee, the newly promoted side will need a solid option between the sticks. He made 45 appearances between the sticks this past season, and was vital in helping the team back to the Premier League for the first time since 1999.
And having played for Sheffield United in the past, Dean Henderson will be able to provide exactly what is needed.
There is hope that consistent game time in the Premier League will also put him in contention to become England’s number one, especially given that this is a World Cup year.
Forest will be covering the player’s salary for the entirety of the season. The move will be made official in a few weeks, when he is back and pre-season is underway.
