DJI has officially introduced the DJI Mic 2 as the successor to its original wireless audio microphone, incorporating various enhancements that may appeal to audio enthusiasts and creators. Here are the comprehensive details.
The All New DJI Mic 2
One of the standout features of the DJI Mic 2 is its recording capability, in the transmitter (TX) units, which ensures audio capture quality with 32-bit float recording. Moreover, the receiver (RX) unit has been upgraded to include a scrolling adjustment dial that gives users control over volume, gain, and other settings.
The DJI Mic 2 excels in recording. Incorporates intelligent noise canceling technology to effectively minimize background noise ensuring clarity in vocal recordings. For recording situations, DJI has thoughtfully included windjammers as part of the package.
The RX unit of the DJI Mic 2 features a 1.1-inch OLED along with an easy-to-use dial for quick access to essential information. Audio monitoring is facilitated through a headphone jack. On the other hand, the TX unit comes equipped with a built-in clip that allows for attachment to a camera’s cold shoe mount enhancing its versatility.
The rectangular design remains consistent across both TX and RX units of the Mic 2. The TX units weigh 28g. It has dimensions measuring approximately 46.06 x 30.96 × 21.83 mm while offering similar weight and dimensions to the RX unit. Another noteworthy feature is the Safety Track functionality that enables 6dB secondary track recording alongside the track as an added protection, against audio spikes.
The system also has the capability to record audio from two sources at a time thanks, to its dual-channel recording feature. Each transmitter of the DJI Mic 2 comes with 8GB of storage allowing for, up to 14 hours of audio recording at a sampling rate of 48kHz and a bit depth of 24 bits. Each transmitter and receiver has a 6-hour operating time, while the included charging case extends this to up to 18 hours of operation and facilitates recharging.
With an operating range of 250 meters, the system also offers Bluetooth connectivity. DJI designed the Mic 2 for user convenience, featuring automatic turn-on when the charging case is opened and a magnetic attachment for discreet placement. Practical accessories, such as the DJI Lavalier Mic and DJI Mic 2 Charging Case, are also available.
In terms of pricing, the DJI Mic 2 is available in various configurations, starting at $349 for a set including two transmitters and a receiver.
