Diogo Dalot has enjoyed a new run of form under Erik Ten Hag. The new Manchester United manager is highly appreciative of the Portuguese right-back, and he has been able to bring out the best in the player following the two defeats in their first two games.
Stats show that Dalot is actually leading the team in terms of some important metrics. And this has been key to him sealing a starting place ahead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka this season.
Diogo Dalot’s stats in 22/23 show massive improvement
In terms of attacking, Diogo Dalot has created the most chances at par with Bruno Fernandes, at ten each. He also has the most touches of the ball in the entire team, at 408.
However, his contributions are not limited to being an attacking full-back. The 23-year-old has been putting in a solid shift in defense as well. He leads the team in terms of the most tackles (14), joint most ball recoveries (39), most interceptions (9), and most aerial duels won (12).
So, while Tyrell Malacia has no doubt been impressive since making his debut for the club with fiery intensity, Dalot has been putting in a great effort on the other flank as well. Should he be able to keep this up, he could emerge as one of the best full-backs in the league.
