MediaTek is gearing up to launch its Dimensity 9500 next year, and rumors suggest it will adopt a new CPU cluster design inspired by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2. Built on TSMC’s advanced 3nm N3P process, the Dimensity 9500 is expected to deliver significant performance and efficiency improvements, but it won’t feature custom cores like Qualcomm’s Oryon. Instead, MediaTek will rely on ARM’s next-gen Cortex-X930 and Cortex-A730 cores, making it a strong contender in the flagship SoC market.

A New ‘2+6’ Cluster Design for Better Competition

The Dimensity 9500 is rumored to feature a ‘2+6’ CPU cluster, with two high-performance Cortex-X930 cores and six Cortex-A730 efficiency cores. This configuration mirrors the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, which is also expected to adopt a similar design. With performance cores rumored to clock at 5.00GHz, MediaTek aims to compete not only with Qualcomm but also with Apple’s A19 and A19 Pro. By leveraging TSMC’s 3nm process, the Dimensity 9500 could achieve better thermal management and power efficiency, giving it an edge in demanding workloads.

Advanced Features and Potential Performance Gains

The Dimensity 9500 is also rumored to support ARM’s Scalable Matrix Extension (SME), enabling it to handle complex workloads more efficiently. This could result in up to a 20% improvement in multi-core performance, making it a powerhouse for both gaming and productivity. However, with no official confirmation and much of the leaked information now deleted, these details remain speculative.

While the Dimensity 9500 is expected to launch late next year, it’s clear that MediaTek is positioning itself as a serious competitor in the flagship SoC space. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to its official unveiling!
