Diego Costa is now officially back in the Premier League. His return has been announced by Wolves on their official website and social media accounts, confirming the speculation for the last few weeks.

The former Spain international has signed a one-year contract with the Midlands club. Based on his performances, there could be the option for another year if Wolves and the player can reach an agreement later on.

The 33-year-old previously featured for Chelsea, and won the Premier League title twice with them. He made 120 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 59 goals before eventually moving on to Atletico Madrid in La Liga.

The striker has been without a club since leaving Atletico Mineiro in January. And after initially facing issues with the work permit, he is now back in the English top flight following an appeal from Wolves.

The signing of Diego Costa became necessary after the injury to Sasa Kalajdzic on his debut. The striker suffered an ACL injury 45 minutes into his debut for Wolves against Southampton. As it is with serious injuries like an ACL, he will be out for a considerable amount of time.

And with Raul Jimenez unavailable as well, the arrival of one of the Premier League’s best shithouses is great news for Wolves fans.
