Wolves are preparing a medical on Tuesday to sign Diego Costa as a free agent. The former Spain international is in talks with the Midlands club over a return to the Premier League, and is close to completing the move.
The deal agreed in principle is subject to him completing his medical. So, if all goes well on Tuesday then he will be officially signed as a new player for Bruno Lage’s side.
Diego Costa close to Premier League return with Wolves
Costa previously featured for Chelsea in the Premier League, and won the league title with them. In 120 appearances for the West London side, he scored 59 goals and provided 23 assists. He has since featured for Atletico Madrid in Spain and Athletico Paranaense in Brazil.
The striker was in talks over a return to La Liga with Rayo Vallecano. He was also discussed internally by Manchester United during the transfer window. But, nothing concrete took place during the last few weeks and he has remained on the free agent market.
Wolves’ new signing, Sasa Kalajdzic, will be out for a considerable amount of time. He suffered an ACL injury 45 minutes into his debut, and Diego Costa is the man that they have chosen to replace the Austrian.
