Newcastle United transfer target Diego Carlos has an agreement with the Magpies on personal terms about a potential move. The Sevilla centre-back has been the subject of transfer rumours for a few weeks now, with the Premier League side interested in him.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the defender is open to joining them on a five-year deal in January itself. However, the two clubs will have to reach an agreement on the transfer fee for the player before the deal is completed.

Diego Carlos open to Newcastle United transfer

The player is a vital part of Sevilla’s defense, and they are competing for the La Liga title with Real Madrid this season. Being only five points behind Los Blancos, they are the only realistic competition for Carlo Ancelotti’s men.

The loss of Diego Carlos could hinder Julen Lopetegui’s team and their hopes of trying to usurp Real Madrid from their stronghold on the top spot right now.

Newcastle United have bid £30 million for the player, and a final answer is yet to be received from the Spanish club. Another Premier League club, and an Italian club is also in the race for the Brazilian.

Jules Kounde is still a transfer target for Chelsea, with the European Champions submitting a €35 million bid for him. Sevilla don’t consider this enough for their man, and won’t sell him unless the right price is offered. Talks for both defenders are still progressing, and we will know for certain in the upcoming days.
