Despite facing new releases like *Happy Patel*, *One Two Cha Cha*, and *Rahu Ketu*, *Dhurandhar* collected ₹3 crore on its 6th Wednesday, benefiting from the Makar Sankranti festival. The film’s 6th-week collections reached ₹22.50 crore, surpassing [*Stree 2*‘s record](https://www.bollywoodhungama.com/movie/dhurandhar/box-office/), cementing its place in Indian cinema history.

The Ranveer Singh starrer registered 11.64% overall occupancy on its 5th Monday, demonstrating sustained audience interest more than five weeks post-release. Evening shows peaked at 14.41% occupancy, indicating strong word-of-mouth momentum.

## Breaking International Records

*Dhurandhar* has become a global phenomenon, particularly in North America where it grossed $21 million, overtaking *Baahubali 2*‘s eight-year-old record of $20.7 million to become the highest-grossing Indian film in the USA. The film also tops the charts as the biggest Indian film in Canada and Australia.

Notably, these achievements are more impressive considering *Dhurandhar* maintained standard ticket pricing ($11-14) compared to previous blockbusters that used enhanced pricing ($25-40). The film was banned in Gulf Cooperation Council countries, yet managed remarkable overseas success through North America, UK, and Australia.

## What Makes Dhurandhar Special?

The 214-minute espionage thriller features an ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal. The film depicts an anti-terror covert operation where an undercover agent infiltrates Karachi’s criminal underworld, loosely based on real-life events including the 1999 IC-814 hijacking and Operation Lyari.

Critics have praised the film’s ambitious scale, with *Bollywood Hungama* calling it “a well-made, ambitious big-screen experience” and *The Times of India* labeling it a “power-packed Karachi mafia thriller.” The film received mixed-to-positive reviews with 47% critics’ approval on Rotten Tomatoes.

Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, *Dhurandhar* represents the first installment of a two-part series, keeping audiences eager for its conclusion. The film will begin streaming on Netflix from January 30, 2026, having secured digital rights for ₹130-285 crore.
