Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, Bungie’s loot-based shooter’s next big expansion, received a new trailer at the 2021 Game Awards, ahead of its February 22, 2022 release date. The trailer begins with a Guardian giving the Vanguard a report. It then jumps to some Mars gameplay, a planet that has been absent from the game for over a year.

The Guardian tells the tale of the first time a Hive Guardian rises, a major new enemy type in the upcoming expansion. A few brief clips of a battle against Savathun are also included. Everything in the trailer takes place in The Witch Queen’s first mission, according to Geoff Keighley of The Game Awards.

Players will be able to make their weapons for the first time, and Glaives, a hybrid melee/projectile weapon type, will be added to the game. Starting with Void, the Witch Queen will begin the process of upgrading players’ Light-based classes to the new Stasis system.
