According to Spanish sources, Robert Lewandowski prefers a switch to Real Madrid and will depart Bayern Munich to force a transfer. Since signing Bayern on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund in July 2014, the veteran has established himself as one of the world’s best attackers, scoring 307 goals in just 339 appearances across all categories.

And, as per the AS, out of all the teams in the world, Lewandowski has chosen the Bernabeu as his favorite destination. The Polish international’s contract with the Bavarian club runs until 2023, after which clubs from outside Germany will be allowed to negotiate terms for a free transfer, which will begin in January of that year.

As a result, Lewandowski may push for a move next summer for Bayern to maximize their profit when he is sold.

Despite his long and positive history with Julian Nagelsmann’s team, as well as Bayern’s strong desire to keep him, he is willing to officially request a transfer away in order to reunite with Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Lewandowski has won 18 trophies throughout his time at the club, including seven consecutive Bundesliga titles, four German Cups, five German Super Cups, and trophies in the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup.

However, the 33-year-old veteran has stated that he plans to stay at the top for another four years and may wish to compete in a different country.

Sport Bild reported on Friday that Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi, feels Manchester City is a possible suitor, although AS reports suggest Madrid is the more likely destination.

Meanwhile, Lewandowski has been named one of five players who have a good chance of winning the prestigious Ballon d’Or award this year. The most likely winners, according to French daily L’Equipe, are Jorginho, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Lewandowski, and Messi. Lewandowski has a total of 13 goals and one assist in ten games this season.
