Didier Deschamps, head coach of the France Football Team has informed us that Kylian Mbappe will be the new captain of the France Football team. Mbappe will replace Hugo Lloris, who retired after playing in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Didier Deschamps said to the French outlet Telefoot: “Kylian Mbappe is the new France captain. Antoine Griezmann is the vice-captain.”
“Kylian ticks all the boxes to have this responsibility. On the pitch as well as within the squad, by being a key element.”

Kylian Mbappe is the youngest player in the history of France, to be the captain of France’s National Football Team. He is now only 24 years old and already made history. The 24 years old have 66 appearances and 36 goals for the France Football Team. Antonie Griezman is selected as the vice-captain of the France squad.
According to sources, Deschamps had a meeting with Mbappe on Monday at Clairefontaine. He also spoke with Griezmann, who was selected as the other candidate for the armband. Didier Deschamps had made up his mind already and announced the news to the team on Monday evening.
Mbappe will start his captaincy era from Friday, 24th March 2023, for France National Football Team against the Netherlands at the Stade de France in a qualifying match for the EURO 2024.
