Denmark have made it into the semi-finals of the Euros, defeating the Czech Republic 2-1 in Baku following a thrilling encounter.

Thomas Delaney of Denmark opened the scoring early, punishing the Czechs for leaving him unmarked in a corner situation as he headed home within 15 minutes. The Danes continued their onslaught on their opposition and came up with numerous chances in the first half.

Shortly before halftime, Kasper Dolberg managed to double their lead, finishing a beautiful cross from Joakim Mæhle from the left wing. The two teams went into the tunnel with Denmark leading 2-0 following a phenomenal first-half performance. But, the second half painted a very different picture. Patrik Schick barely received service in the first half, and his frustration was visible despite the player trying hard to make something happen.

Michael Krmenčík and Jakub Jankto were brought on as halftime substitutes, and the Czech Republic started the second half in rapid fashion. Kasper Schmeichel was immediately called into action, as the Czech attackers were fearless going forward. Patrik Schick became the joint-highest scorer in Euro 2020 as he shot the ball past Schmeichel to score his fifth goal and give his country a fighting chance.

Denmark was second-best in the closing 45 minutes and had to play the majority of the second period on the back foot. They broke numerous times to launch a counter-attack but could not get themselves a third goal.

The Danes continue their fairytale campaign in the Euros and will face the winner of the match between Ukraine and England in the semifinals of the tournament, setting up a very watchable clash no matter what the draw is.
