Juventus have reached an agreement with Borussia Monchengladbach to sign Denis Zakaria. The player had six months remaining on his deal with the German club and could have been available on a free transfer.
But instead of going their frequent route of signing free agents, Juventus have gone all-in and signed the player in the winter transfer window itself. They have agreed on a fee worth €5 million plus add-ons for the midfielder, who will join the Bianconeri immediately.
Juventus sign Denis Zakaria from Gladbach
The Swedish midfielder has agreed on a contract until 2026 with the Serie A giants. He will be flying to Turin with his agents in the coming hours to sign the contract and complete the transfer.
He will be replacing Rodrigo Bentancur, who left to join Tottenham Hotspur recently. Denis Zakaria becomes the second major signing for Juventus in the winter transfer window, after the arrival of star striker Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina.
Borussia Monchengladbach signed Zakaria back in 2017, for a fee worth €12 million, and he has since established himself as one of the top young midfielders in the world. The 25-year-old now moves to one of the most successful European giants and will be a key player in midfield under Max Allegri.
Since making his debut for Switzerland in 2016, Denis Zakaria has earned 40 caps for the national team. He is a defensive-minded midfielder and can help add more balance to the base of the team when he is deployed.
