Delhi CM Atishi on Minimum Wages

The national capital’s minimum wage would increase for a number of job categories, according to a statement made by Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Wednesday. Under the new pay structure, unskilled workers will now make at least ₹18,066 per month, while semi-skilled workers would make ₹19,929 and skilled workers ₹21,917. Atishi gave the AAP government, led by former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, credit for enacting what she called India’s “highest” minimum salaries.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), she further charged, was “anti-poor,” with minimum salaries in BJP-ruled areas being “perhaps half of what was being paid in Delhi.”

Delhi CM Atishi on Wages

Atishi claimed that the Kejriwal administration made sure that salary modifications happened twice a year, in spite of BJP attempts to obstruct. The declaration was made the day after Atishi promised ministers and department heads of the government’s unwavering support at her first meeting with them. Important ministers such as Gopal Rai, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Kailash Gahlot were present at the conference, along with the heads of 26 departments.

Although there has been tension in the Delhi government’s relationship with its bureaucracy in recent years, Atishi emphasized the importance of cooperation. “Let’s collaborate for the benefit of the Delhi community. People’s lives are significantly impacted by the job that officials do, and as a government, we will fully assist the officials in this,” the speaker stated.

She stated, “The Delhi government and the officials are fully accountable to the people. We all rely on the taxes paid by the people of Delhi, so it is our responsibility to work towards providing them with the best possible services and to fulfil our responsibilities with complete integrity,”
