Dele Alli has had a difficult 20/21 campaign under Jose Mourinho, given that he has seen the number of minutes spent on the pitch fall drastically. The player has hence, been linked with a move away from London in order to keep himself fresh.

French Champions Paris Saint-Germain was the most heavily rumoured destination for the club, with newly appointed head coach Mauricio Pochettino hoping for a reunion between Alli and himself.

However, speaking on the possible transfer on the Here We Go podcast on Patreon, Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio said that the deal was extremely close to being completed, save for one crucial detail from the side of Spurs. The London club need a ‘replacement’ for Alli before they can allow the player to leave.

This development is rather interesting because Alli is not playing for Spurs in the first place, and replacing him in the team is something that really shouldn’t be a problem given the quality of the squad right now. Personal terms have been agreed between Paris and the player, with a loan deal till the end of the season in talks.

Rumours of that ‘replacement’ potentially being Christian Eriksen were squashed when Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte said that Eriksen would not be leaving during the January transfer window.
