Declan Rice has a very good chance of leaving West Ham United this summer. The midfielder has been linked with a move away for years, but things are now taking an important turn since his deal expires next summer.
Which means West Ham will either have to sell him at the end of the season, or lose him on a free transfer next year. That is, of course, unless they can agree to a new contract with him. But, their advances to get him to stay have been turned down by the player.
Declan Rice expected to leave West Ham United this summer
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United remain the most strongly linked to the England international. However, owing to their difficulties in midfield, Liverpool could also join the race. But, the price tag could prove to be a deterrent unless a decent fee can be negotiated.
The race is still open for the 24-year-old, since no deal has been agreed as of yet. Arsenal’s interest in signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton could rule them out if the move for the Ecuadorian goes through.
On the other hand, Chelsea and Manchester United might step up their pursuit due to requirements in defensive midfield. However, considering how important Declan Rice is to the squad, it won’t be cheap for any club to sign him. The two key factors at play are West Ham’s poor performance in the league this season, and the absence of European football next term.
