On April 27, 2026, James shared a handwritten letter on the group’s official fan community, revealing his decision to leave DearAlice after much thought. In the sincere message, he expressed deep gratitude to his members, fans (called “Alice”), and the company for the memories and support over the years.

James wrote:

> “After a long time of careful consideration, I’ve made the difficult decision to leave DearAlice. Every moment I spent with the members and all of you has been so precious to me. Thank you for loving us and walking this path together. I will always cheer for DearAlice from wherever I am.”

His agency later confirmed the news, stating that while James is leaving the group, he will remain under the same label to pursue solo activities. The remaining four members will continue promoting as DearAlice.
