The worst may be over for European PC builders — for now. After a brutal climb from €95–€100 in late summer 2025 to a peak of **€430–€470** for an average 32GB DDR5 kit by early February 2026, prices have started to tick downward. A community-shared chart tracking EU pricing shows the curve has started to tilt downward, even as US pricing remains at record levels. The question is whether this is a genuine correction or a brief exhale before the next spike.

## DDR5 Price Timeline: How We Got Here

Among the 32GB [DDR5](https://technosports.co.in/?s=DDR5)-6000/6400 kits checked by Tom’s Hardware, only two models — from Corsair and Kingston — demonstrated steep declines: from around €480 in early February to around €425 now for Corsair, and from around €550 in early January to €463 at press time for [Kingston](https://www.kingston.com/en). All kits checked are now below their peaks — but “below peak” still means historically catastrophic pricing.

| Period | Average 32GB DDR5 Kit Price (EU) | Change |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Late Summer 2025 | €95–€100 | Baseline |
| October 2025 | Rising sharply | +50–70% |
| November 2025 | Accelerating | +150–200% |
| Early February 2026 | €430–€470 peak | +350–380% |
| Late February 2026 | €380–€465 (kit-dependent) | Slight dip |
| US (current) | $380–$430 (record levels) | No relief yet |
| DDR4 32GB (Jan 2026) | $150–$180 | Up from $60–$90 in Oct 2025 |

## Why Prices Won’t Return to Normal Anytime Soon

Memory analysts forecast that prices will continue to climb through mid-2026, with a significant downward correction unlikely to manifest until late 2027. Three structural forces are driving this: AI data centres consuming the majority of HBM and LPDDR5X production, manufacturers prioritising high-margin HBM4 and HBM3E over standard consumer DDR5, and the phase-out of DDR4 lines creating an unexpected price inversion where legacy modules briefly cost more than DDR5.

Samsung’s Pyeongtaek P4 facility is expected to ramp up storage production lines throughout 2026, and SK Hynix’s M15X facility is scheduled to begin mass production — but meaningful relief from Micron’s new US-based fabs is not expected until 2028.

For builders who need memory now: securing inventory immediately is advisable, as prices are virtually guaranteed to be higher in Q2 2026 than they are today, and pre-built system prices are expected to rise 15–20% as these memory costs flow through the supply chain.

## FAQs

### Why did DDR5 prices spike so drastically in Europe in 2026?

AI data centres are consuming the majority of global DRAM production capacity, pushing manufacturers to prioritise high-margin HBM memory over consumer DDR5 — causing a 350–380% price spike from late 2025 to early February 2026.

### When will DDR5 prices return to normal levels?

Memory analysts don’t expect a meaningful price correction until late 2027, with the earliest supply relief coming from Samsung’s P4 factory and SK Hynix’s M15X facility ramping up through 2026.
