Another low-scoring encounter in IPL 2023: DC defeats GT by five runs

IPl 2023 has been an excellent blend of high and low-scoring games, and Tuesday has been no exception. The Narendra Modi Stadium at Ahmedabad hosted the 44th game, and it was an exciting last-over finish.

DC defeats GT by five runs in a last-over thriller

Coming to bat first, DC put a struggling 130 runs on the board. They’re 28 at the loss of five wickets at one stage. Thanks to Aman Khan’s 51 off 44 and Ripal Patel’s 23 off 13, which helped DC put up a total above 100.

Mohammad Shami was again sensational with the ball as he picked up four wickets, picking up DC opener Salt in the first ball itself. Though on the losing side, he’s been awarded the Man of the Match. MOM from the losing side has happened several times this season.

Not a good day with the bat for the Titans

The hosts didn’t put up a great start as they started chasing a low total in their home ground. The opening pair didn’t work out today, and neither did the hero in the last game, Vijay Shankar. Abhinav Manohar and Hardik Pandya’s partnership showed some hope as the skipper hit a 50 and was finally unbeaten for 59 off 53.

The penalty made over by Nortje was a thriller as Rahul Tewatia hit him for three consecutive sixes, taking the equation to just 12 runs in the last over.

However, Ishant Sharma kept his nerve and restricted GT five runs short of the target.

With that win, DC ensured their third victory in the season. The current points table has GT still on the top with 12 points and DC at the bottom with 6 points.
