RB Leipzig have burst forward in the race to sign David Raum from Hoffenheim. The only realistic destinations for the left-back were rumoured to be Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund this summer.
However, out of nowhere, the Red Bull club have almost finalised a deal to bring the player over to their side. The transfer fee agreed is unclear as of right now, but an amount between €30 to €40 million was being discussed prior to RB Leipzig’s intervention in the transfer race.
David Raum close to joining RB Leipzig
According to Fabrizio Romano, the left-back is set to join RB Leipzig in the coming days after many months of speculation. Many clubs asked for his signature, but he has chosen his next destination as Leipzig and the move will be made official very soon.
In only six months with Hoffenheim, the player signed an extension until 2026. But that hasn’t stopped the club from agreeing a transfer fee to let him go. This past season, he scored three goals and provided 13 assists in the Bundesliga, establishing himself as one of the best attacking full-backs in the league. As a result, he was also called up to Hansi Flick’s Germany national team for the Nations League.
At his new club, David Raum will be competing with Angelino for game time, who is also a very good player. The competition could help boost both their levels ahead of the World Cup later this year.
