West Ham United have confirmed that David Moyes will be leaving the club at the end of the season, ending a four and a half years spell with the Hammers. During this time, he has transformed the team completely, guiding them to three consecutive European finishes and their first trophy in over 43 years by winning last year’s Europa Conference League.
The team has struggled for form this season, and their hopes of qualifying for Europe were put to an end after the 5-0 thrashing against Chelsea. Now, after weeks of speculation, Moyes will be leaving the club upon the expiry of his contract in the summer.

“I have enjoyed four-and-a-half brilliant years at West Ham, and the club is in a stronger position than when I returned back in 2019,” David Moyes said as part of his statement.
“I would like to thank all the players for their support, and all the success they have achieved, over the last four and a half years.
“I have really enjoyed working with everyone at West Ham, and I would like to thank the board for giving me the opportunity to manage this great club.
“I wish my eventual successor, the directors, the players, the staff, the fans, and everybody at West Ham, all the very best for the future.”
Julen Lopetegui has been linked as the most probable replacement for the 61-year-old, with the former Wolves and Real Madrid manager out of work since the start of the season. The Spaniard is close to finalising the contract with the Hammers, and will likely be announced as the new manager once the season ends.
