According to a report by L’Equipe, David Luiz is reportedly demanding a shock move to Arsenal. He trained away from the rest of Frank Lampard’s squad on Wednesday.
Luiz is one of a number of central defenders on Unai Emery’s shortlist ahead of the transfer deadline. But it is understood that there has been no formal bid for the Brazilian yet from the Gunners.
David Luiz’s agent, Kia Jorrabchian, also represents Arsenal technical director Edu.
Chelsea are determined to not let the defender leave in this summer. They are facing a transfer ban, so they would have no opportunity to replace him. But David Luiz is determined to leave this summer. The report claims tensions have grown between Luiz and Chelsea.
Luiz is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2021 after signing an extension in May of this year. The 32-year-old made 36 Premier League appearances and scored three goals last season, his most ever during an English top-flight campaign.
Arsenal are looking to strengthen their defensive options and are expected to make a final push to sign Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney before the deadline.
