David Datro Fofana has signed for Burnley on loan from Chelsea after returning from Union Berlin. The forward was sent out on loan to gain experience in the top flight, but a lack of game time has prompted his parent club to terminate the loan and send him to a fellow Premier League club where he could get more game time.Â
While in Germany, the striker played 976 minutes across all competitions, making 17 appearances and scoring two goals. With his spell in Burnley, he will most likely be an understudy to Jay Rodriguez, but will be able to rotate with the Burnley number nine to further his development.

After signing for Chelsea last January, the Ivorian spent the second half of the 22/23 season on loan. However, he was unable to get much game time and was mostly a fringe figure under Frank Lampard.
Burnley will have no option to buy the player outright as Chelsea will consider bringing him back in the summer. And as they battle to survive relegation, the price tag to buy him outright will be unattainable considering he has significant time left on his contract.
Considering his goalscoring tally for Molde in Norway, prior to his Chelsea move, there is still a lot of potential for the Ivorian as he is just 21. However, the coming years will be vital to ensure his steady development now that he is back in England.Â
