Darwin Nunez broke an impressive record in the Premier League during Liverpool’s 1-0 win against West Ham United. The Uruguayan is now the fastest player in the English top flight, having clocked a speed of 38 km/hr.
The previous record for the top speed in the Premier League was held by Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker. His best speed was 37.8 km/hr which was recorded in 2020. And now, that record has been overcome by the Liverpool attacker.
Darwin Nunez sets new speed record in the Premier League
The new signing for Jurgen Klopp’s side has been picking up the pace in his last few appearances. His momentum for his new club was hindered after a 3-match ban that he received. But now, he is starting to pick up a decent run of form having scored five goals in 12 appearances.
For Benfica, the highest speed that Darwin Nunez achieved was 36.5 km/hr. This was just behind Kylian Mbappe’s record of 36.7 km/hr for last season. And now, he seems to have improved on his speed with the move to England.
Nunez scored his first Anfield goal during the win against West Ham United, and had several chances to add another as well. It now remains to be seen if he can build on these performances and achieve a level of consistency at par with Liverpool’s sky-high standards.
