Daniel Maldini scored his first league goal for AC Milan after starting the game against Spezia in the Serie A. The 19-year-old opened the scoring with a header in the second half that gave the Rossoneri the lead. He is now the third generation of the Maldini family to play and score for AC Milan, furthering their legacy with the black and red shirt.

To make things even better for the 19-year-old, his father, Paolo Maldini was in the stands to celebrate the event and it was a remarkable moment for the Maldini family and AC Milan today as they ended up winning the game against Spezia to take them to the top of the table for the time being.

“The important thing about Daniel is that he has talent. He has technique, a good vision of the game, but needs to be quicker and more intensive in shaking off his marker. Bourabia was keeping tight to him and all he needed was another couple of metres to get away from his marker and open up those spaces,” said AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli.

“His first start was against Rio Ave a year ago playing as a False 9, so this was really his first start. He has the quality to make an impact in future and can only get better.”

Since he is currently 19, the youngster has a lot of room to grow. Pioli is using the player in the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Rade Krunic, and given his goal today, he surely has something impressive that the manager recognises.
