Good reviews couldn’t save **Daayra** at the ticket window. The Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer investigative drama limped through its opening week, closing at a dismal **Rs 5.60 crore nett** — proof that critical praise alone rarely fills theater seats for serious, message-driven cinema in India.

### A Weak Weekday Finish

The film managed to add just Rs 1.50 crore across its Monday-to-Thursday run, dragging its total to Rs 5.60 crore nett by the end of week one — a sluggish trajectory for a film headlined by two established stars.

### Why Daayra Struggled at the Box Office?

Despite earning positive reviews for its gripping moral premise, the film’s genre worked against it. Serious, issue-driven cop dramas increasingly struggle to pull mainstream theatrical audiences in India, with many viewers now preferring to catch such content later on streaming platforms rather than in cinemas. Having targeted a niche audience from the outset, Daayra’s underwhelming numbers weren’t entirely unexpected.
