Australian player Beth Mooner smashed a half-century that helped the team score a total of 161/8. India’s star openers Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma got dismissed at an early stage. Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues came to the rescue by scoring 96 runs together in just 71 balls. However, Jemimah got dismissed and Harmanpreet had one of two wickets. soon, Ash Gardner took off consecutive balls that turned the game completely. Harmanpreet had to return to the pavilion after scoring 65 runs in just 43 balls. India had a hard moment when Jemimah got clean bowled by Megan Schutt for a run-a-ball 33, Pooja Vastrakar could score only 1 run and get dismissed by Ashleigh Gardner in the next over. Harmanpreet was dismissed by Alyssa Healy on the next ball. With the dismissals, Australia’s hope of winning the first ever gold in cricket in the Commonwealth Games went higher. Deepti Sharma tried her best to keep the hope of winning the game alive by some blows but after she fell, half of the work was done for Australia. India soon collapsed from 118-3 to be all out for 152 runs. Gardener took 3 wickets for 16 runs.
