Chennai Super Kings has got into serious trouble after the last-minute pull-out of Josh Hazlewood from IPL 2021.
The Australian pacer declared his unavailability last morning. As per the COVID-19 protocols set by the BCCI, the 29-year-old Australian would have to undergo seven-day quarantine plus a 50-day bio-bubble, which he found too restrictive. Before the withdrawal from the IPL 2021, Josh Hazlewood said, “It’s been a long 10 months in bubbles and quarantine at different times, so I decided to have a rest from cricket and spend some time at home and in Australia in the next two months.”
However, it is a complete shock to the CSK management just before a week of IPL. The Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s man will take on Delhi Capitals on the 11th of April.
A few days back, Sunrisers Hyderabad replaced Mitchell Marsh with Jason Roy immediately after the Australian decided not to play in IPL. But CSK is completely clueless about the replacement right now.
CEO of CSK, Kasi Viswanathan said, “We haven’t decided any replacement for Hazlewood yet. We are yet to decide our way forward, and will make a decision in the coming days.”
However, as per some sources, CSK is considering taking New Zealand pacer Tim Southee as the replacement.
