Micron’s SSD brand Crucial has just launched a cheaper SSD solution for enthusiasts and gamers in India. The extremely fast PCIe Gen4 was reserved to be expensive until now, with the P5 and P2 NVMe SSDs things seem to be changed.
These PCIe Gen4 SSDs deliver up to 3400 MB/s and 3000 MB/s of read and write performance respectively. These speeds are not the fastest that the PCIe Gen 4 SSDs can deliver but both the Crucial P2 and Crucial P5 deliver higher throughput than the Microsoft Xbox Series X’s SSD storage solution.
The best part is the price, Crucial has made this high level of performance available to a wider range of PC gamers. The entry-level Crucial P2 2280 SSD has just 250 GB of storage space but delivers better performance than Xbox Series X’s SSD for a price of just ₹ 4,599 whereas the faster Crucial P5 2280 SSD starts at ₹ 5,799.
On the other hand, no one can deny the fact that the PS5 and Xbox Series X’s SSD storage solutions are truly fast, nearly 100x faster than the traditional 5400 RPM hard drives with the integrated compression algorithms. But these cheaper and faster SSDs might give you the option to boost up the performance of your CPU and GPU provided they can support this new tech.
If you have an AMD Ryzen 3000 CPU and been waiting for a cheap PCIe Gen 4 SSD then this can be an ideal opportunity for you to upgrade your system’s RAM. The Crucial P2 and P5 SSDs appear to be one of the first SSDs to be so much more affordable, and the whole range of these new SSDs are available:

Both of these PCIe Gen 4 SSDs are great for the budget and personally, if I had to pick one I would have gone for the 500GB variant of the Crucial P2 2280 SSD or the 1TB variant of the Crucial P5 2280 SSD. You can pair these SSDs on the latest AMD’s cheaper B550 motherboards to experience the full potential of these SSDs with your Ryzen CPU.
