Cristiano Ronaldo will not be a part of Manchester United’s preseason tour in Bangkok. The player has missed the first couple of days of training due to family and personal reasons, and has now asked the club for a lengthier spell away from football.

The situation has been made even more complicated considering that he wants a move away from the club this summer. The board has been made aware of his desire to move, but have ruled out the idea of a transfer for him.

The Portugal captain does not believe that Manchester United are doing enough in the transfer window to warrant an ambitious season. He also doesn’t see them winning trophies anytime soon, which is something he wants to do at this stage in his career.

Chelsea and Bayern Munich had emerged as frontrunners to sign the forward. Now, with the German giants not expecting to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, Chelsea are the favourites to sign him.

Jorge Mendes, the player’s agent, is looking for a proposal for his client to leave Old Trafford this summer. Todd Boehly has been in talks with Mendes over a potential transfer, but is yet to submit a formal bid to make the transfer realistic.

If Chelsea are able to bid for the veteran, they might stand a solid chance at solving their finishing problems upfront this season with one of the greatest of all-time.
