Ronaldo has scored a hattrick against Cagliari to start the new year with a bang.
Juventus’ first game of this year was against Cagliari. Juventus have easily beaten them courtesy Ronaldo’s hattrick. This season Inter are giving a tough competition to Juventus for the Serie A title. With this win, Sarri’s team are comfortably keeping pace with Inter.
After a goalless first half at Allianz Stadium, Ronaldo showed great anticipation to beat Sebastian Walukiewicz to Ragnar Klavan’s loose pass and then finishing round Robin Olsen for the opener. He added his second from the penalty spot following Marko Rog’s foul on Paulo Dybala.
Gonzalo Higuain extended Juventus’ lead further in the 81st minute and five seconds after Cagliari restarted the match Ronaldo slotted in his third goal to score his first-ever Serie A hattrick.
This was Ronaldo’s 36th hattrick in league matches. If scoring a hattrick is an art, then Cristiano Ronaldo is the Picasso of it. No one has scored more hattricks than him over the past 12 years.
Ronaldo has more hattricks than Higuain, Lewandowski, Ibrahimovic and Kane combined together. That’s some stat for taking!
EA Sports have revealed the FIFA 20 Team Of The Year (TOTY). The biggest shock of this year’s TOTY is the exclusion of Cristiano Ronaldo. This is the first time since 2011 that Ronaldo hasn’t made the TOTY squad.
But, Ronaldo has once again proved his haters/doubters wrong by opening the scoring chart of this year with a hattrick.
Ronaldo told Sky Sport Italia after the win against Cagliari: “The year has started very well. The most important thing despite the hat-trick is that the team wins. We played well and created a lot of chances. I am pleased with the hat-trick, but the most important thing was to win and put pressure on Inter.”
“The team is getting better, not just in defence but in all areas. We must improve in all aspects, not just one. We are a complete squad and have to work together in every move.”
He added: “I hope Inter lose [against Napoli] because that would help us. In any case, we’ve done what we needed to do and can only wait now.”
