Cristiano Ronaldo started from Sporting Lisbon before joining Manchester United to become a world-class footballer. He then earned a move to Real Madrid where he established himself as one of the best of this game. He now plays for Juventus whom he joined in 2018.

During such a long club career and a pretty successful international career with Portugal, Ronaldo has not lost two consecutive finals before this Coppa Italia final loss to Napoli.

Amid this Coronavirus pandemic, football has resumed in most parts of the world. Serie A will resume from 20th June and before that the Coppa Italia tournament was scheduled to be finished.

Both the teams, Juventus and Napoli drew their second-leg semi-finals but still advanced to the finals due to their first-leg results. The final was played in Stadio Olimpico, Rome.

Napoli was the better side in the 90 minutes but after a goalless draw, the match headed towards the penalty shootout. (Extra-time after the 90 minutes have been suspended for this season’s competition, so it directly headed towards penalty shootout)

Alex Meret made an outstanding save of Dybala’s penalty while Danilo’s shot flown way above the bar before Bonucci and Ramsey scored from the spot. But Napoli scored all of their first four penalties and won the match before Ronaldo could even come up to take the spot-kick.

Ronaldo has now lost two successive finals for the first time in his career. Before this Coppa Italia final loss, Juventus also lost the Supercoppa Italiana to Lazio at the end of last year.

This final win has given Napoli boss Gennaro Gattuso his first major trophy as a manager. It is the sixth time Napoli has lifted the Coppa Italia trophy in their history – only four teams have won it more times.

Serie A is about to resume this weekend on 20th June. Juventus will play against Bologna on 22nd June, while Napoli will take on Hellas Verona on 23rd June. Juventus has a 1-point advantage over Lazio as the season resumes.
