Cristiano Ronaldo: “I don’t have respect for Erik Ten Hag; they don’t want me here.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken out about his second spell with Manchester United in an explosive interview with Piers Morgan. The forward has been benched under Erik Ten Hag for most games, and has shown his discontent on several occasions.

Now, he has publicly stated that he does not respect Ten Hag. The full interview will air on Wednesday, and it is likely that he has played his last game for the club.

Cristiano Ronaldo speaks out on Erik Ten Hag and Manchester United

“I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me,” he said with regards to Ten Hag. “If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.”

“I think the fans should know the truth. I want the best for the club. This is why I come to Manchester United,” he added. “But you have some things inside that don’t help (us) reach the top level as City, Liverpool and even now Arsenal . . . a club with this dimension should be top of the tree in my opinion and they are not unfortunately.”

“Manchester United tried to force me out,” he said.

“Not only the manager, but the other two or three guys who are around the club [at the senior executive level]. I felt betrayed. I don’t care, people should listen to the truth. Yes, I felt betrayed. I feel that some people didn’t want me here, not only this year but last season too.”

“I followed my heart,” Cristiano Ronaldo said when asked about a potential transfer to Manchester City last year. “He [Ferguson] said to me, ‘It’s impossible for you to come to Manchester City,’ and I said, ‘OK, Boss.’

“The progress was zero. Since Sir Alex left, I saw no evolution in the club. Nothing had changed. He [Ferguson] knows better than anybody that the club is not on the path they deserve to be.

“He knows. Everyone knows. The people who don’t see that. It’s because they don’t want to see; they are blind.”
