With his matchwinner against Everton, Cristiano Ronaldo became the only player in history to have 700 club goals. The Portugal captain struggled at 699 for a while, but was able to score his first Premier League goal of the season to achieve the remarkable feat.

This season has been quite challenging for the forward – having been left on the bench by Erik Ten Hag for most games. However, the veteran still showed that he can deliver when called upon.

For club and country, the number 7 has scored 817 goals. Of them, 450 came for Real Madrid, as he became their all-time top scorer over a span of nine years. 144 of them came for Manchester United across both spells, while 101 were scored for Juventus and five for his boyhood club, Sporing CP.

The striker started last night’s game on the bench as well, but was subbed on in the first half for Anthony Martial. The Frenchman was unable to carry on after suffering an injury, and Ronaldo took the opportunity with both hands.

He was set up by former Real Madrid teammate Casemiro for the goal, as he slotted the ball past Jordan Pickford to make it 2-1. The 37-year-old could now find a spot in the starting line-up with Martial expected to be sidelined again.
