### Lance’s tragic final act

Believing he’s about to rescue Laura, Lance is handed a phone by Crowley that appears to show her location. It’s a trap — the device explodes the moment he activates it, killing him instantly. It’s one of the most shocking deaths the franchise has delivered in years, made all the more devastating by how far Lance’s character had come, evolving from an arrogant outsider into one of the season’s most sympathetic figures.

### Prentiss closes in

While Brian and Sheila watch events unfold via a hijacked video link, James forces Sheila to log into her IRS account under duress. Amid the chaos, **Emily Prentiss** finally spots the mistake that could crack the case wide open — a discovery that reflects her own long history of facing down death and evading it herself.

### What it means for the finale

With Crowley’s identity confirmed but his endgame still unresolved, the show heads into its Season 19 finale with maximum stakes. Between Lance’s death and Prentiss’s breakthrough, the pieces are set for a high-tension close to the season.
