India is close behind China with a 659 million population, which is the number of smartphone users. Besides the world’s largest cricket-loving population and a growing smartphone penetration with the increasing proliferation of cheap androids, India is also grappling with a population explosion of sorts.

United States

The tech giant itself United States is consistently amongst the 3 most smartphone users in the world, boasting a total of 276.14 million users in the country and taking home the gold medal on that ranking. With a high level of smartphone penetration and a tech-savvy population, the U.S. remains a key player in shaping mobile trends.

Indonesia

Indonesia is among the countries with the most smartphone users in the world with 187.7 million population. The nation’s sizeable population and growing middle class have helped to drive mobile technology to almost ubiquitous use.

Brazil

Brazil’s 143.43 million strong population represents another potentially huge emerging market for smartphones. By far the biggest market in Latin America has also been the greatest driver of growth for the region as a whole.

Russia

Countries such as Russia, having 106.44 million smartphone users, show the reliance on the part of citizens growing on mobile technology. There is a big trade of smartphones in Russia and there is an acceptable level of spend on cell phones making Russia an attractive market for smartphone makers.

Japan

The country may have a smaller population than the others, but Japan boasts a massive number of smartphone users at 97.44 Million users. It is among the countries with the most smartphone users in the world.

Nigeria

Nigeria has 83.34 million smartphone users, putting it among the countries with the most smartphone users in the world. The country is also a growing digital economy. Nigeria provides many opportunities for mobile tech companies, with a growing, mobile-savvy population.

Mexico

As one of the more prominent key markets in the Latin American region, Mexico boasts 78.37 million smartphone users. As smartphone prices have come down and mobile networks have spread, Mexico has seen a boost in smartphone adoption.

Pakistan

Ranking last on the list, Pakistan has 72.99 million smartphone users, as the country sees its digital transformation taking off. Pakistan is on the rise in terms of a mobile market, as smartphones are becoming more affordable and connectivity is increasing.
