The speculation surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United has been quite active. The veteran has fallen down the pecking order and has been restricted to only a couple of Premier League starts this season.
This has led to him scoring only two goals, one against Everton and the other in the Europa League. During the summer, there were rumours that the striker could join Chelsea with club owner and acting sporting director Todd Boehly keen on the move.
Cristiano Ronaldo to join Chelsea in January?
At the time, Thomas Tuchel was not in favour of signing the Portugal captain. As a result, the move did not go through. But according to recent reports, Boehly is still keen on recruiting the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
New Chelsea manager Graham Potter is not 100% convinced since he has other targets that he prefers. However, Manchester United would be willing to let Cristiano Ronaldo leave on a free transfer in case there is an agreement between the two parties over a transfer.
There is no doubt that the striker would bring a lot of attention to the club which would result in a financial boost. But that it does to the team is something that remains to be decided by Graham Potter and his backroom staff.
