The demand for high performing storage components has been on the rise in the market. With WD launching its mammoth 18TB surveillance drive, we can see just how far the storage component manufacturers are pushing their technologies to meet the market demands

Corsair, a leading manufacturer of memory and storage components has just launched a new module to its already existing collection of storage variables.

The newly launched MP400 by corsair is a mid-range PCIe Gen 3 x 4 SSD module. The component offers storage capacities of up to 8TB. The new SSD however has been launched with offering specs that are decent at the best.

The speed of the new SSD is stated to be up to 3400 MB/s for sequential reads and the new module features up to 3000 MB/s of sequential write speed. The company is offering 3D QLC technology which is said to enable higher storage space. Offering the new 3D QLC technology is most likely expected to rake up the cost of the storage module.

The company is offering its 4TB storage drive variant for $609. However, the 8TB variant is offered at a huge price of $1379, which is twice that of the 4TB variant. The 8TB variant of corsairs SSD is even expensive the Nvidia’s latest RTX 3090.

With the next consoles from Microsoft and Sony on the verge of being released. It is interesting to see that Corsair is offering its PCIe Gen 3 SSD in the market. The next consoles are said to support custom SSD storage solutions, and their performance depends solely on the ultra-fast speed of their SSDs. Corsair is likely trying to compete as a potential storage module supplier for the new consoles.

As of now, corsair is not the only company eyeing to become a storage supplier to the new consoles. Microsoft is even offering its own custom made NVMe SSD for the Xbox Series X and Series S.

However, Corsair needs to realize that high performing storage modules will soon become a must-have requirement for modern systems. The company needs to up its game to retain its market value. The sooner it realizes this, the better.
