The knockout stage of Copa America 2024 is set to begin imminently. The quarter and semifinals will have a unique rule, however, unlike the European Championships, which are running simultaneously.
The quarter, semi finals and third place playoffs of the Copa America will progress directly to penalties if the two teams are tied after 90 minutes of play, with no extra time to be added.

While the last two rounds of the tournament will not have any additional time, the final is exempt from this change. As is tradition, two halves of 15 minutes each will be played if the finalists are level after 90 minutes.
The game will only be decided on penalties once the two teams still can’t be separated after 120 minutes of open play.
Here is a list of the quarter-final matches of Copa America 2024:
- Argentina vs Ecuador
- Brazil vs Uruguay
- Venezuela vs Canada
- Colombia vs Panama
The winners from each of these matches will progress to the semifinals, set to be played next week.
Brazil vs Uruguay promises to be the most exciting fixture of the quarters, with both teams among the favourites to lift the trophy. Defending champions Argentina, however, are the top pick by far, given how dominant they have been in all of their matches till now.
