Conor Gallagher has given the green light to a transfer to Atletico Madrid from Chelsea. The midfielder has agreed to a five-year contract with the Rojiblancos and will travel to Spain for his medical on Wednesday.
Chelsea and Atletico had a deal in place for €42.5 million for days, but were waiting for a final answer from Gallagher, who had a new contract offer from the Blues. But ultimately, he has been sold and will be registered as pure profit on their books as an academy player.

The completion of the transfer of Julian Alvarez was crucial in getting Gallagher’s deal over the line. Now that the England international will be joining the LaLiga club, Samu Omorodion will be going in the other direction, joining the West Londoners from Atletico after his loan spell with Alaves.
The Chelsea faithful are quite disappointed to see yet another one of their academy players leave the club. There are concerns that the mass incomings and outgoings could result in a loss in connection with the fans.
And so far, that has already happened to an extent. It remains to be seen which club Trevoh Chalobah ends up joining, as he is also expected to be forced out of the club before the end of the transfer window.
