Tottenham Hotspur are having their best transfer window in years. Clement Lenglet is the next major target for the first team, after the confirmation of Ivan Perisic, Richarlison, Yves Bissouma and Fraser Forster.
The London club is optimistic about wrapping up the deal for the centre-back soon, as talks with Barcelona are progressing well. The player is expected to join on a loan deal for the entirety of the season, and an option to buy is not being discussed as of yet.
Clement Lenglet to join Tottenham
Antonio Conte has been backed massively in the 2022 transfer window, and he has had reinforcements in almost every position on the pitch. Although Clement Lenglet has been criticised by Barca fans on several occasions, he has shown his quality from time to time as well.
His approach in a back three would be very interesting to watch, especially considering the approach that Conte has to the system. So, even if he isn’t a starter every week, he can be a solid rotational option to fall back upon.
The loan fee structure needs to be sorted out between the two clubs before the transfer can be finalised. For Barcelona, it will be a good piece of business since they will be able to register Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie with less problems now. More outgoings will also help them pursue Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha with greater financial backing.
