Weeks before release, DC is finally turning up the heat on Clayface. A new poster and a wave of theatre merch have given fans the closest look yet at the monster Matt Hagen becomes, and it’s every bit as gruesome as promised. The film arrives in theatres on October 23.

The New Poster
The poster leans into the film’s body-horror premise. Hagen’s sagging face sits against dark, billowing red fog, while a swirling tower of other faces and grasping hands melts in terror. Together they form a huge mound of clay, a clear sign that his final form will be as grotesque as Watkins can make it.

The Popcorn Bucket and Cup
The theatre merch goes even further. A popcorn bucket shows a massive clay hand bursting over the rim, as if the creature is climbing out of the container, with a body that drips like wet mud. The matching drink cup has a warped clay face with one bulging, bloodshot eye, drooping features, and a mouth twisted mid-scream. It looks a lot like his Creature Commandos design.
Will We See the Full Final Form?
Not before release. Watkins has said there’s no plan to show it in marketing, so expect teases that make your skin crawl. Tom Rhys Harries added to the hype in interviews with Empire and Entertainment Weekly, calling the final form amazing and saying he can’t wait for people to see it after watching it being built a year ago.
What Will He Look Like?
Producer Peter Safran has confirmed this is the same Clayface from Creature Commandos, so expect a massive, dripping lump of mud that shifts into different shapes. Trailers already showed a silhouette with a hand morphed into a mace. The animated version was brutally violent, and the film promises the same: the origin story of how Hagen got there. After a Gotham gangster disfigures his face, an experimental medical procedure goes horribly wrong.
