Citroen has introduced its second Coupe SUV in India, the Citroen Basalt, marking the company’s fifth offering in the country alongside the C3, eC3, C3 Aircross, and C5 Aircross. In India, the Basalt will be Citroen’s first SUV coupe and it stands out as the only compact to take on its sole direct rival in this space —the Tata Curvv.

But in line with Citroen’s value proposition seen on the C3 range, it has launched the Basalt from just ₹7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). The company is counting on this aggressive pricing to attract customers. The Citroen Basalt is available for booking with a token amount of ₹11,001 now and the introductory prices are valid until October 31, 2024.

There are also two dual-tone options: Polar White with Platinum Grey roof, and Garnet Red with Pearl Nera Black Roof. It is built on the same platform as the C3 and C3 Aircross, the Basalt features a 2,651mm wheelbase, measuring 4,252mm in length, 1,765mm in width, and 1,593mm in height, with a 470-liter boot space and 180mm ground clearance.
In terms of looks, the Basalt pictured above takes after the C3 Aircross but with a coupe-like sloping roof. Sharing identical design elements like headlamp setup, split V-shaped LED DRLs and wrap-around LED tail lamps. The vehicle also gains a C3 Aircross-like bumper and bonnet design, similar to the original sighting along with black elements on the roof, shark-fin antenna & silver skid plate at the rear positioned atop dual-tone alloy wheels.
On the inside, The Citroen Basalt gets a dual-tone beige and black cabin with semi-leatherette seats, a three-spoke steering wheel that frames a 7-inch digital instrument cluster along with another touchscreen infotainment measuring 10.25 inches flanking Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. Additional features include floor-mounted rear AC vents, contoured headrests, electrically adjustable ORVMs, LED projector headlights, adjustable thigh support for rear seats, and automatic climate control.
The Citroen Basalt’s safety features, meanwhile are made up of six airbags, a rear parking camera with guidelines, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic stability control, and hill hold assist as well as ISOFIX points for child seats. Its powerful and refined performance stems from a 1.2-liter T-GDi engine with an output of 110 hp, available as standard with either a 6-speed manual (190 Nm) or a 6-speed automatic transmission variant (205 Nm).
