The news was confirmed by the production house, Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI), marking a significant collaboration between the veteran actor and the young director.

This project is already a landmark venture, as it brings together two cinematic legends: Rajinikanth in the lead role and his long-time contemporary, Kamal Haasan, as the producer under the RKFI banner. After weeks of intense speculation, the official announcement has put all rumours to rest and energized the film’s pre-production phase.

## A Dream Come True: Cibi Chakravarthy’s Emotional Announcement

Cibi Chakravarthy, who made a remarkable debut with the blockbuster coming-of-age film *Don* starring Sivakarthikeyan, expressed immense gratitude and excitement over the opportunity to direct his idol. His directorial prowess in handling a commercially successful entertainer is seen as a key reason for his selection to helm this mega-project.

The young director shared a heartfelt message on social media, describing the moment as the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. He recounted his journey, from a small-town boy who dreamed of just taking a picture with the Superstar, to now directing him. Chakravarthy’s post echoed a previous sentiment shared by Rajinikanth himself: “Dreams do come true. Miracles do happen.”

## The Road to a New Director

The director announcement follows a period of transition for the project. Initially, director Sundar C was attached to *Thalaivar 173*. However, he later exited the venture, with reports citing unavoidable circumstances and creative differences over the script. Following Sundar C’s departure, Kamal Haasan and the RKFI team reportedly shortlisted and evaluated several promising young filmmakers.

Cibi Chakravarthy’s narration ultimately impressed the superstar and the producers, leading to his official appointment. The makers released a teaser poster with the poignant tagline, **“Every HERO has a FAMILY,”** hinting at the potential emotional core of the high-octane entertainer. With the director now locked and a festive 2027 release window confirmed, the team is set to commence production shortly.
